Q&A

This watch, powered by programmable MEMS micromotors, works by using a quartz time base to generate an electric pulse at a consistent frequency. This regular pulse is then transformed into mechanical movement thanks to a microcontroller and an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) developed by SilMach that sends electric signals to the MEMS micromotor to power it. This means that the watch can guarantee the utmost precision in timekeeping.

TheTimeChanger watch is up to ten times more accurate than the COSC precision standards with a variation of +/- 0.5 seconds per day.

We recommend that the battery replacement procedure be carried out by a watchmaker who has the necessary tools and knowledge to avoid damaging your watch.

The procedure consists of removing the back cover of the watch with a suitable tool, removing the old battery, inserting a new battery of the same type, taking care to ensure that the direction of insertion is correct, and gently closing the cover.

We strongly recommend that you dispose of the used battery in the appropriate recycling bin, so that it too can be given a second life.
Do not dispose of the battery in a fire. Do not recharge the battery. Keep batteries out of the reach of children.

No, the watch is powered by a battery that provides the necessary energy for movement.

The lifespan of one battery in the watch is over ten years (depending on usage and storage conditions). Excessive use of hidden functions could reduce battery life.

If a watch suddenly runs slow, this could mean that the battery autonomy is running low. It is advisable to replace the battery if you notice that your watch is running slow or stops. In case of persistent malfunction, contact our after-sales service.

If silicon has been largely democratized in the recent years across technologies industries; SilMach decided to stay true to the silicon origin and history, and payed a tribute to the British chemist Humphry Davy who was the first to highlight the extraordinary chemical element and gave it a name inherited from the latin word silicis (silex): silicium.

TheTimeChanger is water resistant up to depths of 50 meters (5ATM). This means it is resistant to short-term exposure to water, such as splashes when washing hands, and very shallow immersion.

Warning: when the watch is underwater, you must not press the push-buttons since it might cease to be water-tight, and your watch may be damaged.

The straps supplied with TheTimeChanger watch are made out of leather. As such, you should avoid them coming into contact with water to prevent the straps from deteriorating.

We recommend avoiding all kinds of repetitive impacts or any other type of intense stress on the watch as this may damage the casing or the mechanisms.

Yes, you can set the hour, minutes and seconds on TheTimeChanger.

Please see the user manual (available for download below) to find specific instructions.

The Silicium Micromotor in our watch is produced by SilMach in Besançon, France in a cleanroom environment, which guarantees the utmost precision and cleanliness.

All of the other components of TheTimeChanger are also made in Besançon, France.

The straps are made at the Jean Rousseau workshop, a prestigious strap maker, at their Pelousey site in France.

To clean TheTimeChanger, please take a microfibre cloth dampened with soapy water and wipe it along the surfaces of the casing, the buttons, the watch glass and the straps on TheTimeChanger. Please make sure to dry off the watch and the straps after cleaning using a dry microfibre cloth.

The straps are made from natural skins, so they must not be exposed to fresh or salt water. Each strap has a unique grain and veining. Over time, the leather of your strap will form a patina and evolve into a strap that will reflect your personality.

Thus, you can clean your strap at the same time as your case, respecting the instructions. We recommend not doing this step too frequently at the risk of degrading the quality of the leathers, and not attempting to clean the strap with alcohol or ethanol, as this could seriously damage it.

The mechanism does not require any specific maintenance. It will only be necessary to change the battery when the time comes to give it new life.

TheTimeChanger casing and straps can be sporadically serviced to improve their appearance.

TheTimeChanger watch is guaranteed for 3 years from the date of receipt.

This covers defects in materials and workmanship existing at the time of delivery of your watch by us.

During the warranty period, and upon presentation of the documents relating to the purchase, the support by our after-sales service is free of charge.

The warranty does not cover, in particular:

  • The duration of the battery;
  • Normal wear and tear and aging (such as scratches on glass; alteration of the color and/or material of the strap; crumbling of the veneer; etc.);
  • Damage to any part of the watch resulting from improper use, lack of care, negligence, accidents (knocks, dents, crushing, glass breakage, etc.), or improper use of the watch as well as failure to observe the instructions for use provided;
  • Indirect or consequential damages of any kind resulting from the use, non-functioning, defects or inaccuracy of your watch;
  • Handling by an unauthorized person (e.g. for battery replacement, services or repairs) or whose original condition has been altered beyond SilMach’s control.

The after-sales service is insured for a period of 5 years at the end of the warranty. Out of warranty, the cost of repairs will be communicated to you after diagnosis by our technical experts.

GENERAL RECOMMANDATION

Your TheTimeChanger watch powered by our silicon MEMS micromotors is designed to accompany you with elegance and reliability, but it deserves special attention to ensure its longevity. Here are a few essential tips:

SHOCK & VIBRATION

Avoid exposing your watch to sudden shocks or vibrations. For example, intense sporting activities such as golf or mountain biking.

SEA WATER

Avoid exposing your watch and its bracelet to salt water, as salt can damage the quality of the leather strap. In the event of accidental immersion in seawater, rinse your watch immediately with fresh water, then dry it with a dry microfiber to protect its components and preserve its brilliance.

FRESHWATER IMMERSION

Votre montre est équipée d’un bracelet en cuir, il est recommandé d’éviter l’exposition à l’eau douce. Pour garantir l’étanchéité du mécanisme, n’actionnez pas les poussoirs lorsque la montre est immergée.

EXTREME TEMPERATURE

Protect your watch from extreme temperatures, whether above 60°C or below 0°C. Rapid temperature variations can also affect its performance.

 CHEMICAL PRODUCTS

Keep your watch away from chemicals such as detergents, perfumes or creams, which can alter the noble materials of its case or bracelet.
